Gang Impact Unit, Law Enforcement Partners Tackle Gang and Gun Violence

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Division of Police is proud to announce that the Gang Impact Unit continues to show strong results in our community.  The Cleveland Police Gang Impact Unit, in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms the United States Marshals Service and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office have put together investigations that have resulted in multiple arrests and indictments throughout the summer months.

“If we’re going to be successful, we need to work together at the federal, state, county and local level,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. These results are just a small example of our efforts to fight violent crime in the City of Cleveland.”

Throughout recent weeks, the Gang Impact Unit along with local and federal partners has arrested 15 individuals, while 4 remain wanted on felony warrants.  The males arrested are members of various gangs and have committed crimes ranging from low level drug offenses to murder.  The Gang Impact Unit has made 195 felony arrests and seized 125 guns in 2017.

“Gang and gun violence has a drastic and negative effect on our community, especially our children.  The work done by these officers, agents and attorneys is impactful and extremely important in ridding our streets of violence,” said Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams.
