Cleveland’s Wall of Fame

On the north wall of the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda sits Cleveland’s Wall of Fame, a proud tribute to the outstanding Americans who have helped make our City great. Established in 1971 during the City’s 175th anniversary celebration, the Wall of Fame is an on-going project to honor the men and women who have made significant contributions not only to the City of Cleveland, but to the entire Nation. Included among the honorees are inventors, scientists, writers, judges, mayors, presidents, artists, and businessmen.

The honorees featured on the Wall of Fame are selected by a panel of judges assembled by the Early Settlers Association. Every person selected for the Wall of Fame must achieve national prominence and must be deceased for at least 25 years before being considered. New honorees are added every five years with the last update occurring in 1996.

The portraits and pictures found on the Wall of Fame are courtesy of the Cleveland Public Library, the Western Reserve Historical Society, Cleveland State University, Oberlin College, and the Musical Arts Association. This impressive collection is maintained by the Early Settlers Association of the Western Reserve.
