VNA Ready Seniors.org
The Ready Seniors program at VNAReadySeniors.org helps active Ohio Senior citizens, age 60 plus, prepare for emergency situations. By simply completing an online survey, Seniors get a free Ready Seniors Checklist to help them develop an action "what-to-do" plan based on their individual needs and preferences. The checklist guides Seniors through different types of emergencies and offers useful preparation tips.
Cleveland Care Calls
This automated telephone reassurance system is available to call on Cleveland Seniors in order to check on their well-being. If the Senior does not respond, Public Safety is called to check on their well-being. This is a free service which can be reached at 216.664.6316 or 216.664.2833.
Care Calls use the WARN, or Wide Area Rapid Notification system. Over 54,000 Clevelanders 65 years of age and older receive automated telephone calls with specific tips during excessively hot or cold weather and in emergency situations.

Chore Program -brochure
Cleveland Seniors 60+ years of age, can receive assistance with several safety issues. In addition to general house cleaning and maintenance, Chore workers install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and remove snow. Priority for this program is given to frail, isolated, low income and disabled individuals. -more

Senior Guest House
This home
is a residential respite for persons 60 years of age and better which provides a safe environment for those in crises or unsafe conditions. This is a collaborative project of the Cleveland Department of Aging, Fairhill Center, and the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior and Adult Services. Since its 2004 opening, adults have received temporary residential housing, including meals, and in some instances case management. -flyer

This collaborative program of the Divisions of Police, EMS, and Fire, and the Department of Aging is designed to increase knowledge and awareness among older persons in the areas of crime prevention, fire hazards, emergency services and programs for the elderly.
Vial of Life Project
This program makes vital information available in homes for rescue teams to access in emergencies. Health information is entered onto a form which is placed in a baggie and taped to the refrigerator. Emergency services are trained to look for decals affixed to front doors and to the baggies. Decals and forms can be downloaded free from the Vial of Life website.
