The Division of Research Planning and Development
provides the professional research planning and site development
capabilities for all park and recreation site improvements or
rehabilitations, grant applications and planning activities. The
Division is comprised of two professionally oriented sections:
Site Development and
Research and Planning.
The Site Development Section is responsible for
conducting all planning and design development activities for
exterior park and recreation facilities including the investigation
and development of land planning and landscape project feasibility
studies, reports, cost estimates and recommendations. This section
is responsible for the administration and field supervision of
contracts for all exterior capital improvement projects.
The Research and Planning Section is responsible
for coordinating all departmental C.I.P. activities and conducts
related research development projects. Additionally, this section
lends technical assistance to all divisions in terms of system-wide
assessments, recommendations and implementation plans.
MISSION
To provide the Department of Parks, Recreation and
Properties with professional research planning, and site development
capabilities along with the development and monitoring of the
system wide Capital Improvement Program.
PROGRAM NAME: SITE DEVELOPMENT
OBJECTIVE:
To provide landscape architectural/site planning
capabilities.
ACTIVITY:
Develop and update the City's Park and Recreation
Capital Improvement Program.
Develop park and recreation site planning/landscape
architectural project feasibility reports, preliminary plans,
cost estimates, recommendations and implementation strategies.
Design and develop detailed site improvement
drawings and specifications for the improvement or rehabilitation
of all exterior departmental facilities including urban parks,
plazas, parking facilities, cemeteries, etc., along with the
construction supervision and contract administration for same.

OBJECTIVE:
To provide research and technical assistance
to the Department as required.
ACTIVITY:
Develop and monitor comprehensive short and
long range departmental Capital Improvement Programs.
Develop the annual departmental Capital Improvement
Program and budgets for City facilities.
