| Cleveland, February 6, 2006 - The employees of Cleveland's Department of Public Utilities plan to sell 2,000 Valentine's Day flowers for $1 each on Tuesday, February 14, in the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda, 601 Lakeside Ave., and in the lobby of the Carl B. Stokes Public Utilities Building at 1201 Lakeside Ave. The sale of 2,000 assorted carnations will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until all flowers are sold.
Flower sale proceeds from the 25th annual "Have a Heart" City of Cleveland Employee Food Drive will benefit the upcoming 15th annual "Harvest for Hunger" community-wide food drive. Mayor Frank G. Jackson presides as an honorary co-chair for the annual Harvest for Hunger food drive.
The City of Cleveland Employee Food Drive, which began in 1981, has raised more than $2 million in food and funds for area hunger centers including the Catholic Hunger and Shelter Network, the Cleveland Food Bank, the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland, and the Greater Cleveland Salvation Army.
