| CLEVELAND, February 24, 2006 - Encouraging
neighborhood revitalization and
community cooperation at the grassroots level, Mayor Frank G. Jackson announced an open invitation
to neighborhood organizations to take part in Cleveland’s 2006 Cityworks Neighborhood Matching
Grant Program.
Cityworks provides small grants of up to $3,000 to
Block Clubs, Street Clubs and Community-Based Organizations for neighborhood improvement and community
strengthening projects. Awardees will be responsible for matching contributions, which may be cash,
volunteer labor, donated professional services, donated materials or supplies, and/or borrowed equipment.
Since its inception in 1993, the program has funded more
than 1,330 neighborhood projects at a cost of more than $2.8 million.
"We are inviting neighborhood stakeholders to
share their innovative ideas that will improve quality of life in our community and strengthen the
foundation of the City," said Mayor Jackson. "Neighborhoods can establish safety programs, tutoring
programs, clean-up projects, vacant lot and street beautification programs, youth service and public
art projects, among other things."

Development & Maintenance Project
- West Park Community Coalition - Emery Park Youth Baseball
League Training Practice, Competition
Local Advisory Council- Youth/Elderly Intergeneration Supportive Services Project
Two Cityworks proposal development workshops have been scheduled. The workshops

The City of Cleveland Department of Community Development’s
Division of Neighborhood Services operates Cityworks, which is celebrating its 12th program year.
Funding is made available through the Department’s Community Development Block Grant budget.
