MAYOR FRANK G. JACKSON SWEARS IN DIRECTOR OF
PUBLIC SAFETY AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF
THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS BOARD

CLEVELAND, March 2, 2006 - Mayor Frank G. Jackson swore in two members of his administration at 12:30 PM in the Red Room of Cleveland City Hall today.

Martin Flask, Director of Public Safety
Director of Public Safety Martin (Marty) L. Flask has spent his entire adult life in public service. He began his public safety career as a military police officer in 1968 and was appointed as a uniformed police officer for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in 1971. He began his law enforcement career with the Cleveland Division of Police in 1973 and rose through the ranks of the organization to Chief of Police, a position from which he retired in 2001. Immediately following his retirement, Marty was appointed Security Manager and Airport Security Coordinator for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. He served as the liaison between the Transportation Security Administration of the Department of Homeland Security and the Airport. He is a life member of the Ohio Chiefs of Police Association and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Ohio Retired Police Chiefs Association. Marty currently serves as Co-chairman of the Partnership for a Safer Cleveland and is on the Board of Trustees of the National Conference for Community and Justice.

Blaine A. Griffin, Executive Director of the Community Relations Board
Blaine A. Griffin most recently served as Program Officer for the Criminal Justice Services Agency of the Cuyahoga County Department of Justice Affairs. Prior to joining the County, he worked as Program Director for the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. Blaine has also served the Cleveland community as Program Director and Community Organizer for the East End Neighborhood House, as well as Neighborhood Consortia Builder and Youth Rights of Passage Coordinator for Harvard Community ServicesCenter. Blaine serves on the Boards of Policy Matters Ohio and the Neighborhood Leadership Institute. He is also President of the Buckeye/Shaker Woodland Hills Neighborhood Assembly. Blaine is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, Ohio and Malone College in Canton, Ohio. He is also a graduate of the Maxine Goodman Levine College of Urban Affairs Neighborhood Leadership Cleveland Program and a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio.
