Indoor Pools: The Division of Recreation operates 19 indoor pools for year-round swimming. Programs such as learn to swim, aquacise, water polo, water basketball and swim teams are available to Cleveland residents at no cost.
Outdoor Pools: From the second week of June through the second week of August, the Division of Recreation operates 22 outdoor community pools. Pools are open Wednesdays to Sundays from noon to 7:30 pm.
Participants must be at least 8 years old and 4 feet tall to swim. Adults must be with children not meeting these requirements at a ratio of 2:1. All lifeguards are American Red Cross certified, and a ratio of one lifeguard per every 40 swimmers is maintained.

Cleveland firefighters provide fire education speakers for schools, day care centers, senior centers, and employers and also appear at career days. In addition, firefighters with fire apparatus, including engines, hook & ladders and the Smoke House make appearances at community and school events. The 32 foot Smoke House is a mobile version of a home which uses non-toxic smoke and an alarm system to teach children how to escape a home fire.
This is Cuyahoga Community College's premiere lifelong learning program for people ages 55 and up. Each session includes a wide variety of courses, allowing students to choose classes that fit their interests. Most courses are taught by retired professionals and professors who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom.

EMS Public Heartsaver CPR/AED Classes

These classes are available to the public at no cost. Individuals or groups can sign up and attend classes at Cleveland EMS Headquarters at 1701 Lakeside Ave. Certification is given upon successful completion of the course and is valid for two years. Photo ID is required for participation. To be eligible for certification participants must be present for the entire course and successfully complete all required skills.
